Ready to Tender Checklist

There is a range of information and policies that you need to have as standard if you want to win public sector tenders. Most make good business sense to have whether or not you are interested in public sector business.

You need to know your marketplace, where your competitors are and what your unique selling point is. You need some good case studies on work you have done for your client's, client profiles and references.

There are four main policies that are absolutely basic: Health and Safety, Quality Management, Environment and Sustainable Development, Equality and Diversity.

A good set of Human Resource policies and good staff management practices are also very important. You need to show your financial track record - three years audited accounts if you have them are a good start and you need to have relevant insurances in place such as Employer and Public Liability. Besides having the paperwork, good practices and a strong client base to prove you are a good supplier, you also need to work on building relationships, ideally before the tender opportunity you are interested in is advertised.
